American Brawn’s annual fundraiser celebrating the women and men in our military and first responder departments will be held in our new American Braun solace center at the top floor of the masonic lodge at 928 Main St. in Grinnell, IA. A social-30 will begin at 6:00 with dinner at 6:30. Live Musical entertainment will start at 7 o’clock with Piano playing by Janet Benest followed by dynamic duo of Benphanie (Ben and Stephanie Latimer) headlining the evening with their fun, loving favorites from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. This event is held annually to respectfully pay tribute to our amazing USA Veterans, Military Personnel, and First Responders and to raise funds for the purchase of life-saving equipment for first responder departments. It will include the honorable presence of many of those we are paying tribute to.

Sat. July 29th, 5:30 PM - 9:00 PM

American Brawn’s annual fundraiser celebrating the women and men in our military and first responder departments will be held Saturday evening July 29th, 2023 at Central Park in Grinnell, IA. A social-30 will begin at 5:30 with dinner at 6:00 and BLUES CONCERT with the talents of the Heath Alan Band beginning at 7:00. This event is held annually to respectfully pay tribute to our amazing USA Veterans, Military Personnel, and First Responders and to raise funds for the purchase of life-saving equipment for first responder departments. It will include the honorable presence of many of those we are paying tribute to.

Sat. August 6th, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Our 2022 fundraiser marked another resounding success for American Brawn fundraising. With the addition of the JPK Fund/Grinnel Mental Health Consortium as a key event sponsor, Internationally renowned comedian Lee Cole was brought in for hilarious professional entertainment. Fun competitive games and a live auction again brought great excitement and successful fundraising to the evening.

Our annual American Brawn Statewide Bags Championship is held at various central lowa locations including NASCAR's lowa Speedway in Newton, IA prior to a race, at Prairie Meadows Casino, Racetrack, & Hotel in Altoona, IA or at the lowa State Fair. Qualifying competitions are held at locations around the state drawing many of the most talented throwers in the state, and beyond. Following those qualifying competitions around the state, teams come together to determine the year's champions amidst thousands of spectators.

The 2021 HEROES Gala came back to a fully live in-person event as the COVID-19 pandemic had subsided a fair amount. A Facebook auction of donated items kicked off the bidding which finished up the evening of the event. DJ Ben Latimer spun tunes in the background and MC'd the evening culminating in an exciting, hilariously successful live auction of large items.

On average, 22 US soldiers take their lives every day. Veterans, Military personnel and First Responders face severe stress, PTSD and mental anguish in the process of serving their country and communities. This event served to raise awareness of this and aid in the detection and prevention of suicide throughout our society. We had inspiring presenters including a Psychologist, a Healthy Living expert, Retrieving Freedom service dog agency, County Sheriff and a US AF Veteran with the Prairie Star Residency program.
